What is a virus?
A virus is a program that gets onto your computer without you knowing about it and can potentially cause your PC to stop functioning and even result in data loss. A virus can create and run multiple copies of itself. Most people don't realise they have a virus until their computer starts to run slowly.
Some viruses are capable of moving across networks and bypassing security systems to infect other computers.
What is spyware?
Spyware and adware are different to viruses because they do not create copies of themselves and spread, nor do they result in data loss. The most common symptom of a spyware is that your computer will start to run very slowly and have trouble connecting to the internet. At times these programs may invade your privacy and attempt to share your personal information by transmitting it across the internet. There has been an explosion in these threats - making it vital for every PC to be protected.
What is adware?
Adware is usually loaded onto your PC when you download or install a free program. Many free programs are provided free because they rely on the built-in advertising to generate sales. Adware will not usually affect the performance of your computer, nor will it result in any data loss...but it can be extremely annoying to be inundated with advertising and pop-ups
It is extremely important to remove traces of adware and spyware from your computer for a number of reasons. These programs install themselves as part of other programs or from web pages you may have visited. They work by monitoring your searches in google for example and then serve up popups based on your internet habits. They gather statistics about your daily life and choices you make in order to form a personality. This data is sent back to marketing departments and used in a number of ways. Some can be intrusive such as on screen popups whilst others remain silent.

ADWARE AND SPYWARE REMOVAL

Pop-up ads are a form of online advertising on the World Wide Web intended to increase web traffic or capture email addresses. It works when certain web sites open a new web browser window to display advertisements. The pop-up window containing an advertisement annoyingly pops up on your screen, often many times over. Many people simply refer to popup's as an annoyance when in actual fact, something more sinister may be happening behind the scenes.
